Updates on public (OPT) and private bus services for 2023-2024

Public bus services are free to eligible families and are provided through The Office of Pupil Transportation (OPT) of DOE. Some parents organized a private bus committee, which helps find alternative transportation option (usually for fees). See http://ps300q.org/transportation.html and https://q300pta.org/resources/bus-info/ for more information.

Public (OPT) bus

Please review eligibility guidelines to determine if your K-6 child is eligible for OPT yellow bus or MetroCard service. Please note that there is no OPT bus service for grades 7 and 8, but they may be eligible for a MetroCard.

Eligibility guidelines: https://www.schools.nyc.gov/school-life/transportation/bus-eligibility

The Office of Pupil Transportation (OPT) will not be updating ridership and routes until the end of August. Routing is not the purview of Q300 and the school will not be able to answer questions about the routing. If your child is eligible for OPT busing, they may be assigned a stop.

The Q300 Busing Coordinator is currently conducting a survey to plan/assist parents requesting the bus service in 2023-2024. The link was sent to all parents in mid-July. If you didn’t receive the survey link, contact schoolbus@q300.org. Please keep in mind the school office is closed until the last week in August and you might not receive a response immediately.

Private bus

If you are not eligible for OPT busing, there is a parent organized, private bus committee, which helps find alternative transportation (for fees). Please reach out to them here:
