How Can Q300 Parents and Community Help?
- Volunteer!
We are looking for folks that can help solicit prizes, plan activities, edit the online auction listings, and come up with new ideas! We also always have several specific tasks that can be done at home on your own time. If you’re interested in helping, even in a small, specific way, please email auction[at]q300pta.org. - Donate Auction Items
Ask for Donations! You can donate from your own business or skills, or ask at places you frequent! We love restaurant gift cards, toys, household items, kids’ activities, tickets to the theater or sporting events, weekend getaways and hotel stays.You can use this letter (Word format | PDF format) in an email to the business, or leave the form with the manager. Here is a sample email (Word) you can adapt if contacting a business over email. Many places are happy to support public education and appreciate being publicized to our families and in our neighborhoods. It’s easier than it can seem to ask – folks will often donate when they are approached! Think about your locally owned shops, places your kids take lessons, family or friends with interesting connections, and then approach them.We also love PARENT prizes! Do you have a special skill that you can share with someone else in our community? Can you speak another language and offer an hour or two of conversation? Are you an amateur cake decorator and can offer a lesson? Can you offer a homemade meal or to teach how to cook your specialty? Can you give a neighborhood tour? Are you a graphics whiz and can donate creating a party invitation for someone? Are you a computer expert and can donate an hour of your time? Parents in the past have donated everything from being a singing telegram to a specialized cocktail creation to photography sessions! Connect with other parents and support our PTA all at once!We hope every Q300 family will try to solicit or donate themselves at least one item! - Become an Event Sponsor
When you are asking for donations, you can also ask if businesses to become an event sponsor by placing an ad in the Auction Journal, or advertise your own business! That showcases your business to over 350 families who love to support local businesses, plus many more who will visit the auction website. The Journal will be distributed at the Stepping Into Summer Dance Party event, plus we continue to hand it out at school events and tours afterwards. Want to congratulate your child or someone else in our community? Have a graduating 8th grader? Want to thank your teacher as a class gift from all the parents? Show some appreciation – give a Shout Out! Shout Outs will be published in the Stepping Into Summer Auction Journal which will be given to everyone in attendance at the Stepping Into Summer Dance Party and will be available electronically to the whole Q300 community. Kids love finding their name in the journal! Each Shout Out is just $10, and limited to 140 characters. The cost is tax-deductible. Auction Journal Shout-Out Form will be available soon.
