New York Chess Academy offers afterschool programming for Q300 students in kindergarten through eighth grade from Monday, September 14, 2026, through Friday, January 29, 2027. Students of all skill levels can develop chess abilities while exploring arts, technology, robotics, architecture, coding, and logic.
- Q300 Lower Division: Grades K-4
- Eligibility: Q300 students in kindergarten through fourth grade, at all skill levels
- Dates/Hours: Mondays through Fridays, 2:10-5:30pm
- Cost: $39 per session
- Schedule:
- Monday: Chess and Visual Arts
- Tuesday: Chess and Web Development & Coding
- Wednesday: Chess and Robotics
- Thursday: Chess and Architecture
- Friday: Chess and Crafting
- Q300 Upper Division: Grades 5-8
- Eligibility: Q300 students in fifth through eighth grade, at all skill levels
- Hours: Mondays and Tuesdays, 2:50-5:30pm
- Cost: $33 per session

- Tuesday: Chess and Mixed Media Arts
- Chess Levels
- Beginner: Students learn piece movements and values, tactics, and different checkmate patterns.
- Intermediate: Students develop a stronger understanding of opening, middlegame, and endgame principles, patterns, and tactics.
- Advanced: Students focus on strategic thinking, opening knowledge, and endgame techniques.
